Interview with an Elementary School Librarian

Artist Statement

When thinking about filming a document, I instantly thought of my mom. Her job requires a lot of different skills, and even though it seems simplistic, it is always constantly evolving. I wanted to see ways that she views her job, but also how she handles the variety of difficulties she faces. An elementary school librarian is so much more than it seems. My goal with this video is to capture her light that she has about her job, and show her passion to an audience who may not know the position well. As for the filming itself, I prioritized having two angles to have an easier editing process. The original interview was over twenty minutes, however the final is three minutes and forty-seven seconds. I am happy with the final result, but I do wish I went back to edit the exposure on one of the angles.
